5 June 2025: Global exporters of finished steel products continued to pursue international sales due to insufficient domestic demand.

22 May 2025: EU demand for finished steel products from Turkey, Ukraine, China and Indonesia increased sharply in March 2025 compared to the same month last year, but deliveries from other major suppliers plummeted, resulting in a 4.4% decline in total import volumes, to 1.96 million tonnes (Mt).

24 April 2025: In February 2025, European finished steel imports from overseas markets declined by 15.6% year-on-year, to 1.7 million tonnes (Mt), reflecting a high level of uncertainty prevailing in the market ahead of tighter trade measures and slow activity in the end-use sectors.

04 April 2025: Imports of finished steel into the United States have plummeted in February 2025 by 6.2% year-on-year, to 1.5 million tonnes (Mt), following a jump to 2.2Mt in January this year, ahead of Trump’s tariffs coming into effect.

6 March 2025: In January 2025, Türkiye's steel exports rose by 23% year-on-year, reaching 1.1 million tonnes (Mt) as buyers from the EMEA region showed increased appetite longs and semis.

27 February 2025: In January 2025, global steel output declined by 4.4% year-on-year, to 151.4 million tonnes (Mt), owing to weak market fundaments in the major markets. Production rates in Asia fell by 4.4%, to 111.9 Mt, while in the European Union – by 3.3%, reaching 10.3 Mt. North America's crude steel output inched down by 0.5%, to 9.0 Mt.

6 February 2025: Turkish steelmakers raised exports of steel products by 27.6% in 2024 from a year earlier, to 13.4 Mt, owing to increased appetite in the European Union, where they shipped 5.9 Mt during this period, up 64.6% year-on-year.

05 February 2025: The UK steel industry experienced a significant decline in production last year, primarily due to a transition to electric arc steelmaking, intense competition from overseas, and high input costs.

17 January 2025 : China’s steel export hit a 9-year high of about 110 Mt in 2014, up 22.7% on the previous year, following 25.9% and 15.9% increases in overseas shipments in December and November, respectively.

14 December 2024: China has released its export figures for November, which rose by 15.9% year-on-year, to 9.28 MT, while over the first eleven months of 2024 overseas supplies of finished steel surged by 22.6%, to 101.15 MT. This indicates that the country’s export shipments are close to reaching the record high of 2015, when they totalled around 110 MT.

6 December 2024: In October, Turkey’s steel imports surged by 39.8% compared to the same month last year, reaching 1.7MT amid firm local prices while overseas suppliers, mainly in Asia, continued lowering offers in response to weakening market conditions in the third quarter of 2024.
