5 September 2025: Türkiye's finished steel imports in July jumped by 42.45% compared to the same month in 2024, to 1.2 Million tonnes (Mt), driving year-to-date deliveries to 11.6 Mt, up by 9.61%.
In July, overseas shipments of semis into Türkiye surged by 53.54% year-on-year, to 748 thousand tonnes (kt), and by 30.42% in the first seven months, reaching 4.8 Mt. Russia, Malaysia and Algeria remained the leading suppliers to this market, with Indian mills raising export volumes to 80kt. At the same time scrap sales into Türkiye plummeted by 7.7% on a year before, to 1.5 Mt, with 10.9 Mt supplied in January-July, down 6.05%.
The Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD) reported that in July final steel consumption rose by 31.1%, to 3.6 Mt, reaching 22.2 Mt over the first seven months, up by 1.7%. Crude steel production increased by 4.2%, to 3.2 Mt, but year-to-date figures declined by 0.9%, to 21.5 Mt. However, in July Turkish mills produced just 2.9 Mt against 3.1 Mt the same month last year.
