21 November 2025: Semis exports from China in the first ten months of 2025 surged by 156.6% year-on-year, to 11.9 million tonnes (Mt), but in October softened by 4.4% on the year, to 1.2 Mt. Tighter tax regulations in China drove prices up during the summer period and stemmed buying activity in some markets.
In October, overseas exports of Chinese semis to the Philippines doubled to 206 thousand tonnes (kt), with 174 kt supplied to Thailand, up from 15 kt a year ago. China shipped 89 kt of semis to Poland last month, while exports to Egypt, Singapore, Malaysia and Tanzania totalled 50 kt, 45 kt, 40 kt and 26 kt, respectively.
China's finished steel exports also increased this year, to 97.8 Mt, up by 6.2%. However, in October, shipments to overseas markets were 12.5% lower, reaching just 9.8 Mt, mainly due to lower demand from some Asian and Middle Eastern countries.
