China’s semis exports rise by 41.76% in September

23 October 2025: Suppliers of finished and semi-finished steel from China continued expanding their presence in the international markets due to competitive pricing. In September, their overseas shipments gained 3.07% and 41.76%, compared to the same month in 2024, reaching 10.5 million tonnes (Mt) and 1.5 Mt, respectively.

Despite a substantial drop in finished steel sales to Vietnam, Indonesia, Brazil and Turkey amid trade restrictions and additional supply in the domestic markets, Chinese exporters found demand in other Asian, Middle Eastern, African and Latin American countries.

In the semis segment, the largest shipments were recorded to Indonesia, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia and Thailand last month, while Turkey cut imports by 85.41%.

Year-to-date figures for finished steel increased by 8.8% on the year, to 88 Mt, while semi-finished supply rose by 214.44% over this period, to 10.8 Mt.
