03 March 2026: The total finished steel exports from Turkey in January 2026 decreased by 20.8% compared to January 2025.
Exports to Romania declined by 67.4%, reflecting the overall slowdown in imports from third countries in the EU steel market as the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) entered into force on 1 January 2026.
Egypt became the second-largest importer of Turkish finished steel products as EU demand for imports weakened.

Morocco, Serbia, and the United Kingdom showed higher demand for Turkish finished products in January compared to the same month in 2025; however, these volumes were still well below the figures recorded in the second half of 2025.
The United States and Canada also reduced their finished steel imports from Turkey amid rising protectionism.
